A 2027 Oyo State governorship hopeful under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), has condemned the reported kidnapping of Hon. Wale Oriade, calling for his immediate and unconditional release.
In a statement issued on Sunday, December 7, 2025, Dr. Kareem expressed deep concern over the abduction of Oriade, a prominent APC chieftain in Oyo State, describing the incident as a disturbing reminder of the persistent insecurity confronting the state and the nation at large.
According to AKK, the news of Oriade’s kidnapping has sent shockwaves across the APC and beyond, noting that the victim is a family man, grassroots mobiliser, and committed public servant whose absence is sharply felt by his family, supporters, and constituents.
“The abduction of Hon. Wale Oriade is not just a personal tragedy but a direct assault on the peace and stability we all yearn for,” Kareem said, stressing that no society can record meaningful development where citizens live in constant fear for their lives and property.
The APC governorship aspirant emphasized that security remains the bedrock of good governance, without which progress in education, healthcare, and economic growth cannot be achieved. He therefore urged the Oyo State Government and federal security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), to intensify efforts through a coordinated and sustained operation to ensure Oriade’s safe return.
“This is a test of our collective resolve to protect our people, and failure is not an option,” he added.
Dr. Kareem also appealed to well-meaning indigenes of Oyo State, Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, and people of goodwill worldwide to pray fervently for the safe release of the abducted politician and other Nigerians currently held by kidnappers.
He further called for prayers for strength and comfort for Oriade’s wife, children, and loved ones during the ongoing ordeal, expressing optimism that the state and the country would overcome the current security challenges.
“Oyo State and Nigeria deserve to be places where no one goes to bed fearing tomorrow,” Kareem said. “Together, we will overcome this darkness.”
Hon. Wale Oriade was reportedly abducted a few days ago, though details surrounding the incident remain unclear as security agencies continue investigations and rescue efforts.
