As schools across Oyo State resumed for a new academic session, Hon. Wasiu Alabi, the councillor representing Ward 5 in Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, extended a hand of generosity to young learners by distributing essential educational materials across selected schools.
Beneficiaries of the second edition of his back-to-school support programme include Baptist Primary School 1, 2, and 3 as well as Saint Michael Primary School 1, 2, and 3. Each school received 300 pieces of exercise books, 20 sets of uniforms and school bags, and 50 pairs of shoes and socks.
Hon. Alabi, while presenting the items, emphasized that the initiative was born out of his passion for education and his commitment to reducing the financial burden on parents as their children return to school. He noted that this year’s gesture marks the second edition, following the successful implementation of the first edition last year.
The councillor also expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his consistent investment in education, human capital development and youth like him. He further acknowledged the support and leadership of Hon. Ridwan Adepoju, Executive Chairman of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government; Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State; as well as other stakeholders in the local government who have continued to champion grassroots development.
Hon. Alabi assured parents and pupils that his office would remain committed to initiatives that uplift education and empower children, stressing that investing in young learners today is the surest way to secure the future of the community.
The pupils, teachers, and parents in attendance commended the gesture, describing it as timely, impactful, and a reflection of responsive grassroots leadership.
