Ekiti governorship hopeful, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has reaffirmed his commitment and that of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to winning the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, despite the leadership challenges facing the party at the national level.
Speaking through a former National Vice Chairman of the PDP, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, at the party’s Legacy House in Abuja on Tuesday during the submission of his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms, Dr. Oluyede expressed confidence that the PDP is poised to reclaim Ekiti.
While acknowledging that the PDP has had its share of internal challenges, Oluyede noted that the party is already overcoming them and emerging stronger.
“The PDP remains the only truly democratic political party in Nigeria, with internal mechanisms to resolve its crises. This is a party that gives equal opportunity to all eligible members without fear or favor,” he stated.
Oluyede commended the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Acting National Chairman, Amb. Illya Damagum, for their consistent efforts in repositioning the party. He expressed confidence in the credibility of the forthcoming primaries, assuring party members that the process would be free, fair, and transparent.
“When you see the caliber of people who journeyed with us from Ekiti for this historic event, you will understand where the leadership stands. I particularly commend the equitable leadership being provided by Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, alongside the NWC and NEC under Amb. Damagum. Our focus now is to complement their efforts through aggressive mobilization to return the PDP to its winning ways. Ekiti people are predominantly PDP, and victory is assured,” he added.
The event witnessed the presence of prominent PDP leaders from across the sixteen local governments of Ekiti State, including former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Pastor Kola Oluwawole; Chief Mosu Aguda; Prince Tayelolu Otitoju; Chief Mrs. Adesoro; Hon. Ebenezer Oladipupo; Chief Adekunle Johnson; and Hon. Mrs. Busola Oyebode.
Also in attendance was a former Commissioner for Education, Hon. Bade Adara, along with other leaders, members, and supporters from within and outside the state.
