The Muslim community of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government witnessed a historic and spiritually significant moment as the League of Alfas and Imams officially installed Dr. Dawood Olalere, popularly known as D Al-Ameen, as the Aare Musulumi of Ibadan NorthWest Local Government, September 6.
The grand installation ceremony held at Lekan Salami Stadium, attracted eminent personalities across Oyo State and beyond, was held amid prayers, praises, and commendations for the new Aare Musulumi, whose contributions to Islam, humanitarian services, and grassroots development have made him a beacon of light in the community.
Religious leaders, political stakeholders, traditional rulers, and residents trooped out in large numbers to honour Dr. Dawood Olalere. In their goodwill messages, they described him as a man of unwavering faith, compassion, and leadership who has consistently used his influence to promote peace, unity, and social progress.
In his acceptance speech, D Al-Ameen expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the honour bestowed upon him and appreciated the League of Alfas and Imams for finding him worthy of the revered title. He pledged to use his new position to further strengthen Islamic values, promote peaceful coexistence among religious adherents, and support the socio-economic advancement of Ibadan NorthWest.
“This is not just a title, but a call to greater service. I assure my people that I will continue to serve with humility, dedication, and sincerity,” he declared.
Alhaji (Hon) Dr Olalere is the member representing Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency and the Aare Musulumi of Ekotedoland.
The installation of Dr. Dawood Olalere as Aare Musulumi has been described by many as a spiritual rebirth for the Muslim community in Ibadan NorthWest, with expectations that his reign will usher in greater unity, growth, and prosperity for the faithful.

At the well-attended ceremony, distinguished personalities were installed and honoured. Among the other turbanees were Alhaji Olaoye, and Alhaja Akanni, while the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland received the prestigious award.
The programme featured a special lecture on “Roles of Muslims in Islam” delivered by Imam Sakirullahi Mogaji Abata, Chief Imam of Agbaje Central Mosque.
The ceremony drew the presence of dignitaries from all walks of life. Notably in attendance were: Members of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly, Personal Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde Alhaji Akeem Azeez, Chairman Civil Service Commission Alhaji Aderibigbe, Members of Oyo State Elders Councils and Governor Advisory Council.

In his goodwill message, Chief Nureni Akanbi (Iba Oluyole, Arole Iba) commended the remarkable unity within the Islamic community in Ibadan NorthWest and across Oyo State. He applauded the collaboration between political leaders and religious stakeholders, urging the honourees to remain steadfast in their commitment to the growth of Islam and community development.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Senator) Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, was ably represented by Chief Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, FCA, Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, who also donated generously to the Muslim community.
Other dignitaries included: Barr. Iyiola Oladokun (Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State), Former Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi (Okanlomo of Ibadanland), Former Reps Member Hon. Saheed Fijabi, among many others.
Also present were political leaders across Ibadanland, including local government chairmen, councillors, supervisory councillors, executives of prominent political parties in Oyo State , and appointees.
The event was coordinated by the Central Planning Committee in conjunction with the League of Imams and Alfas Programme Committee, who received accolades for the smooth and colourful organisation.
The grand ceremony not only honoured worthy individuals but also reinforced the message of peace, unity, and the continuous advancement of Islam in Ibadan NorthWest and Oyo State at large.
The event also symbolized the rising influence of Islamic institutions in shaping not only religious but also socio-political and cultural landscapes within Oyo State.
