The founder of the Harrison Niyi Alonge Care Foundation, Harrison Niyi Alonge, has been conferred with a Merit Award in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic contributions to the development and well-being of the people of Ekiti State.
Alonge, who was unavoidably absent, was represented by his spokesperson, Comrade Olawale Ezekiel Ogunyebi, at the event organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel, Ekiti State Council.
The ceremony, which drew dignitaries from across Nigeria, celebrated individuals whose service and influence have shaped communities and promoted societal development. Other prominent awardees included Senator Babafemi Ojudu, HRM Oba Adeola Ajakaye, the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, and Dr. Olumuyiwa Sylvester Adu from Akure, Ondo State.
Delivering the keynote lecture titled “Role of Media in Changing the Narratives of Democratic Prospects in Nigeria – Ekiti Perspective”, Senator Ojudu underscored the importance of transparency, focus, and professionalism in journalism, stressing the media’s crucial role in nation-building.
The event also had in attendance Olayinka Oyebode, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ekiti State, and Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Adviser on Information, who both represented Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
Speaking on behalf of the award recipient, Comrade Ogunyebi reaffirmed the commitment of the Harrison Niyi Alonge Care Foundation to uplifting the underprivileged through impactful programs. The foundation, he noted, has been at the forefront of palliative distribution, healthcare outreach, and empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens in Ekiti State and beyond.
The recognition, according to Ogunyebi, will further inspire Alonge and his foundation to intensify their humanitarian work, fostering hope and opportunities for those in need.
