The Return of Adelabu Penlemesi 2027 Group has strongly condemned recent remarks made by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, describing Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and APC candidate, Olawale Murphy, as “political liabilities” and “serial losers.”
In a statement jointly signed by the group’s Coordinator, Prince Omiyale Ademola, and State Secretary, Comr. Toyinbo Ayanwusi, the group dismissed Olopoeyan’s comments as “politically charged, misleading, and an attempt to undermine the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the August 16 Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.”
The statement emphasized that Chief Adelabu’s public service record far outweighs any political smear, noting his accomplishments as a decorated technocrat and former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria before his appointment as Minister of Power.
“Labeling Chief Adelabu as a repeated failure ignores his distinguished professional and political journey. One competitive electoral loss does not erase decades of achievement and capacity,” the group stated.
The Penlemesi 2027 group also rejected Olopoeyan’s claim that the APC’s campaign is doomed due to the absence of certain stakeholders at its flag-off rally, insisting that the party remains united and strategically positioned for victory.
“The absence of some party leaders at the rally was purely due to scheduling logistics, not division. Chief Adelabu’s leadership brings strategic advantage to the campaign, and our focus remains on grassroots mobilization,” the statement read.
They further criticized the PDP stalwart’s prediction of an APC defeat, calling it “speculative at best” and “a sign of fear, not confidence.”
The group concluded by urging voters to focus on policies and vision rather than “cheap propaganda and name-calling,” stressing that the August 16 election is a contest of ideas between the APC and PDP, not a platform for personal attacks.
