As part of the activities marking the 2024 Igboora World Twins Festival, Oyo State Government, through Ibarapa Central Local Government, under the chairmanship of Hon. Olusola Adeleke, has rolled out activities celebrating this year’s unique global celebration of culture and multiple births in Igboora.
The festival, which is scheduled to hold for 6 days from October 7th to 12th, will witness celebration of twins birth in Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, in conjunction with Oyo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The grand finale will take place at the Methodist Grammar School Playing Ground, Saganun, Igboora, Oyo State.
Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, is expected to grace this year’s edition of the event, affirming his administration’s commitment to promotion of culture and tradition across the state.
Hon. Olusola Adeleke, Ibarapa Central LGA Chairman, said the annual festival has become a unique cultural event, honouring community with highest multiple birth rate in the world.
Hon. Adeleke said the festival does not only showcase the premium place of culture and tradition by Oyo government but also values uniqueness of Igboora community in the State.
Hon. Adeleke, in his statement made available to journalists, indicated that the Committee for 2024 Igboora World Twins Festival has named a member of House of Representatives, Rep. Abass Adigun Agboworin as the Chairman of the occasion.
‘’Igboora World Twins Festival 2024 will be an exciting blend of cultural performances, educational programs, and community engagements. This year’s festival promises to uphold the rich heritage of Igboora and continue to place the town on the global map as the ‘Twins Capital of the World,” the statement said.
Hon. Adeleke stated that the 2024 edition is expected to attract several dignitaries and tourists across the globe.
Members of the Oyo State Executive Council and other political functionaries in the state are expected to attend the festival while Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle will be the royal father of the day.
While describing what qualifies Hon. Agboworin as the Chairman of this year’s edition of Igboora Twins Festival, Hon. Adeleke said the Chairman, House Committee on Narcotic Drugs has been recognized for his leadership and dedication to public service, making him an ideal candidate to oversee the prestigious festival.
Adeleke said Agboworin’s contributions to development of his constituency is remarkable, adding that he has championed numerous developmental projects, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
“His leadership has been instrumental in fostering community growth and ensuring that his constituents benefit from critical government initiatives,” Adeleke added.
